JIATF BATTLES NARCO-TERRORISM IN CARIBBEAN AND LATIN AMERICA

Photo from JIATFS

A little-known organization to the American public helped the US Coast Guard to seize 317-pounds of cocaine valued at just under US$5 million and to apprehend two smugglers following an at-sea interdiction in the Caribbean. The interdiction and arrest took place about 80 nautical miles south of the Dominican Republic. Let me discuss this critical organization a bit more.

It's name is the Joint Interagency Task Force-South (JIATF) and on Wednesday (10/01/14), the Coast Guard reported that during a routine patrol the crew of a Canadian aircraft, patrolling on behalf of the JIATF detected a 30-foot go-fast vessel travelling towards the Dominican Republic. The JIATF aircraft notified Coast Guard officials, who searched the go-fast boat and recovered the illegal drug shipment of six bales of cocaine. Two men onboard were arrested and handed over to special agents of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) for further investigation and prosecution.

As mentioned previously, the JIATFS is a relatively unheard of organization to the American public, mainly because its rarely reported on any of the major news channels. It fuses together the local, regional and international capabilities of law enforcement to eliminate illicit drug trafficking. JIATFS believes that the illegal production and trafficking of drugs undermines stability throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, thus threatening U.S. national security.

The power of JIATFS lies in its facilitation of cooperation between partner nations and U.S. law enforcement. They conduct interagency and international detection and monitoring operations to interdict illicit trafficking and other narco-terrorist threats. Hats off to the men and women of this relatively unknown organization!

Video of Junkanoo Beach from Corey Pearson spy series        Junkanoo Beach and the Tiki Bikini Hut beach bar appear In several of the episodes in the "Corey Pearson, CIA Spymaster in the Caribbean" series. After all, the "Tiki Bikini" is Corey's most favorite beach bar in all the Caribbean. He finds peace of mind there and it's a great place to meet and blend in with the locals while meeting with CIA assets. It's just a short walk from downtown Nassau on West Bay Street.       It's a 15 minute walk from the cruise ship docks. Just head west on West Bay Street and you'll run right into this free beach with colorful souvenir, food and drink vendor huts that blend in seamlessly with the coconut palms that line the place. Definitely sit at the Tiki Bikini Hut beach bar. JIMMY BUFFETT MENTIONED IN SPY SERIES

I'm a Jimmy Buffet fan and mention him off and on in the "Penumbra Database," the first in a series of the Corey Pearson- CIA Spymaster in the Florida Keys and Caribbean spy series . Below is a mention of Jimmy Buckett's past life, when he first started out singing in Key West. A CIA safe house blends in to the homes on Eaton Street. It's a scene from the "Penumbra Database" where General Morrison walks from the safe house to the Turtle Kraal, his favorite eating place in Key West's Historic Seaport District. His counterintelligence (CI) teams protect him along the way:       "As Morrison strolled further down Margaret Street toward Harpoon Harry’s, he felt regret for not telling Corey about the San Francisco CBIF safe house. Through the CSS business, he instructed BHH to attempt to breach Cheng’s MIT computer in Cambridge, Massachusetts and to devise new firewalls to patch up any cyber weaknesses in its de...
