Video of Junkanoo Beach from Corey Pearson spy series
Junkanoo Beach and the Tiki Bikini Hut beach bar appear In several of the episodes in the "Corey Pearson, CIA Spymaster in the Caribbean" series. After all, the "Tiki Bikini" is Corey's most favorite beach bar in all the Caribbean. He finds peace of mind there and it's a great place to meet and blend in with the locals while meeting with CIA assets. It's just a short walk from downtown Nassau on West Bay Street.
It's a 15 minute walk from the cruise ship docks. Just head west on West Bay Street and you'll run right into this free beach with colorful souvenir, food and drink vendor huts that blend in seamlessly with the coconut palms that line the place. Definitely sit at the Tiki Bikini Hut beach bar. Who knows...maybe you'll spot Corey Pearson with one of his CIA or CBIF buddies?
Tiki Bikini Hut Beach Bar on Junkanoo Beach |
I stayed at the Nassau Palm Hotel which is directly across the street and took a morning swim in the gin-colored waters off Junkanoo Beach. Then, I laid on the beach and wrote scenes for the Corey Pearson spy series while drying off. Sometimes you'll find locals attempting to sell their crafts and goods, but they aren't the least bit pushy.
The beer is cheap and the food is above average. I enjoyed the Pina Colada "two 4 one" special at the Tiki Bikini Hut and enjoyed watching them create it...real coconuts were cut open with a machete and the white meat was mixed in a blender with pineapple juice, coconut cream, and white and dark rums. It was delicious!
Bathrooms are available and there is a great view of the Nassau Lighthouse and cruise ships entering and exiting Nassau Harbor. Totally relaxing with talcum-powder sand and gin-colored waters. Definitely bring your camera and snorkel, fins and mask, then have a drink out of a coconut...then relax in the sand.
